Geneious Prime thinks my DNA is protein

This most frequently happens with FASTA format since it doesn’t declare what the data type is. When using drag and drop, Geneious tries to figure out what type of sequence it is looking at and use the correct import. If there are ambiguities in your nucleotide sequence Geneious may think it is protein sequence.  To be certain that you’ve imported your data as the correct type though, use File→Import→From File... and choose the format and type from the list.

My file is .embl and it changed it from DNA to amino acid sequence. I imported using this method. It would be useful to know how to change it to the correct sequence type. I do not want to lose my annotations.

    Hi Robert,
I replied to a support ticket to you earlier, I did not appreciate you were working with an imported EMBL format file.
Could you reply to the support ticket and attach the EMBL file that is causing the issue.
I will take a look at the file and determine why Geneious is not importing it in the correct format.
