Why are my NCBI downloads/BLAST jobs failing?

NCBI services no longer work in Geneious R7 and earlier.  This is because of the change to using HTTPS that NCBI implemented on Sept 30th, 2016.  See NCBI transition to HTTPS for further details. 

Users on Geneious R8 and above should make sure that they are using the latest patch release available (8.1.9 for version R8, 9.1.6 for R9) as these versions are compatible with the new https protocol.
