UniProt service unavailable in Geneious 7.0 and earlier

The UniProt search service in Geneious 7.0 and Geneious 6.1.7 and earlier is not functional due to a change in the way EBI provides their services.

This service is functional in Geneious 7.1 and later.  It has also been fixed for R6 in in 6.1.8.

    Hello.

I'm sorry for replaying to such an ald announcement, but I was surrprised to the information that this UniProt service issue has also been fixed for R6 in 6.1.8. I announced this problem two years ago and I get an advice to upgrade to higher version, what is not the right solution for me, sorry. So what should I do to get the service working in 6.1.8.? How was it fixed for 6.1.8.? Do I have to change some settings? Please, give me exact solution for 6.1.8.

    Thank you

    Sincerely

UniProt search is functional in version 6.1.8.  You should check your firewall and connection settings and ensure that Geneious has access to the internet. See here for further instructions on configuring connection settings.

If it still doesn't work after checking that, please send us a support request with a screenshot of the error you get.

    Hello Hilary,

I'm sorry for replying after long time (again). I just wanted to announce and describe, what was/is my (maybe not only my) problem with UniProt search in Geneious 6.1.8. Maybe it will be helpful to you also.
So, the internet connection was NOT the problem, as the NCBI service in Geneious works fine, why shouldn't UniProt? I was used to use Accession number (''Entry") of protein sequence in the UniProt search in previous versions of Geneious. And THAT was/is the problem. The UniProt search does NOT work when searching for these numbers. It works fine using "Entry name", "Protein name", etc., but not "Entry" numbers. Maybe you knew about that, maybe not. Maybe it's a problem you could fix, maybe not. I would appreciate it, if you could try. To that time, as I already know what NOT to search for in UniProt search of Geneious, I am satisfied with how it works for now. For me, Geneious is still the best software offering tools for molecular biology.

    Thank you for your help.

    Good luck.

    Hello

According to my previous comment. The search for accession number works when I open "More options" and set "Accession number" "is". But now the problem with searching for accession number occurred when searching in NCBI - Nucleotide database. And this is not working even after I set the search for Accession number.

I am little confused, what went wrong.

    Sincerely

Sorry, NCBI search works fine without problem, my fault. But the problem, that UniProt search in Fewer options mode does not recognize accession number, persist.
